Your best personal PR

Here's the biggest thing you can do for your personal brand; you can show up on time. Yep! That's it. No fuss. No frills. The fact is showing when you say you're going to has a number of brand affiliates:

1. It means you'll deliver your clients' work on time

2. It means you won't be excuse driven: Oh the traffic, the weather, the lost car keys...

3. It means you do what you say you're going to do

These simple things communicate loads about your brand but in today's landscape seem  entirely impossible  to execute.

If you want  people  trust you, you've  got to show them why and the  simplest test of trustworthiness for most people is whether or not you keep your promises, and that includes promises about your time.

That is true Judette! Before you say a word, you are being assessed. Lateness, inadequate preparation and poor communication are a few things that add negative strikes before you even finish deliver your message.

Recently I had a meeting with a Marketing representative for a promotional merchandise company. During our first telephone contact she exuded confidence and stirred my enthusiasm. At the meeting whatever little she said was not enough to convince me to be interested in the products. To add to her lateness, I was offered samples that were in poor condition and she had little information about the product line.

Sometimes, ‘the early bird catches the worm’, if not, at least they have a head start.

Content is another factor in personal branding. Jeez! At least the marketing rep. could have come to the table prepared. Lateness and poor content, that's a double whammy that spells clueless. How on earth does she rack up sales?

Oh how wonderful Leigh about reading the blog. I haven't seen your name as a subscriber I think that may the only way you can follow the comments that others post in response.

Oh and don't just read, leave some of your thoughts too, I enjoy the feedback.

Judes I ain't complaining bout yuh preaching... I love it... Truth is truth... unrehearsed or not...Our people - professional or not - need to hear what you have to say...

Preach is just a term used to say yuh doing a great job on your blog.

The fact is, Judette is one of the few avid bloggers and you have to admire her for it. Keep up the good work lady. Not many people have the guts and wit to do it.

Thanks Judette for offering this electronic PR mentoring forum . It is good to have this outlet to learn and share.

I totally agree with this, simply be a person of your word. This is something i have been trying to do for 2008. Lots of good will is lost when you constantly say "I'll take care of it" and its not taken care of!
